SYNOPSIS:

Writer-director Joseph L. Mankiewicz (The Quiet American, All About Eve, A Letter to Three Wives) turns a jaundiced eye toward Hollywood with The Barefoot Contessa starring Humphrey Bogart (Casablanca, The African Queen, The Maltese Falcon, Sabrina) as Harry Dawes, a film director on the decline, and Ava Gardner (The Killers, The Night of the Iguana, Mogambo, Show Boat) as the “Contessa” Maria Vargas, an enigmatic Spanish nightclub dancer turned world-famous movie star.
